ROCHESTER, PA – After a decade of part-time service to Rochester Manor + Villa, Christopher M. Gehrlein, D.O., has been promoted to become southwestern Pennsylvania’s only full-time, on-site Medical Director at the Beaver County-based rehabilitation, skilled nursing and personal care facility. The move comes at a time when the award-winning Rochester Manor & Villa recently has completed a $2 million renovation and transformed its business model into more of a person-centered health care community.
Affiliated with Heritage Valley Medical Group, Gehrlein leads a team of nurses, therapists, certified nursing assistants and staff in a daily conversation about clients’ care. Their goal is to monitor a client’s overall health and, when needed, to provide immediate, on-site treatment to avoid emergency room visits and hospital admissions.
“Having a medical director in-house five days a week makes all the difference in the world,” said Mark A. Kopsack, chief executive officer of Rochester Manor and Villa. “We’re transforming medical care by being more available and more involved, and helping our clients get better and get home faster.”
Rochester Manor and Villa recently received the “2015 Business of the Year” award by the Beaver County Chamber of Commerce. It is the county’s most highly rated skilled nursing, rehabilitation and personal care community with a 227-bed capacity in 102,000 sq. ft. of space.
Dr. Gehrlein is married and the father of four. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He obtained his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002 after receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1997.
